Never could I have fathomed that pain can be life-threatening. Then it all became clear, very clear, as I regained consciousness, fully aware that I was on life support and suddenly angry. I knew how I had gotten there.
I was also aware that the Lord knew every gritty detail of my downward spiral, thoughts and prayers, hurt, and how and for what purpose He sustained me despite my attempt to end my life. My anger was not for anyone other than myself and the enemy. I had taken the bait of lies, and that almost cost me my life. It cost me my life in many ways, for I have become a healed version of myself and stepped into a calling and purpose very much in God’s heart. I believed the lie that I should die. When the truth is something needed to be buried with Christ and resurrected in Him so that I could live in freedom, healed, and speaking of His goodness. As Healer, Our Heavenly Father’s greatest desire is for his children to embrace freedom through forgiveness as our healing.
The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy. That is his mission, and people are his targets.
I learned that unhealed wounds positioned me in the crosshairs of our mortal enemy and within his method of operation. Tired, weary, heavy-hearted, mentally taxed, and broken-hearted people are most vulnerable to the wiles of all that is evil. For the record, wiles are devious or cunning stratagems employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants. What he wanted was me dead. God, in His mercy, had another plan.
There is always hope! There is also always help, even when the enemy whispers lies. The enemy has a simple strategy: lie, steal, cheat, and attack identity, all for the purpose of killing and destroying. That is it. Satan is a liar; he seeks to rob us of blessings, and he cheats by twisting Scripture to kill and destroy. The enemy’s strategy found first in Genesis, continues to this day. Take heart, the Lord is near the broken-hearted and smoldering wicks he does not snuff out, nor a bruised reed does He break. Jesus, our Sovereign Savior, has poured into his children the precise help we need in the person of and by the power of Holy Spirit. Believe it, for in Him, there is no darkness. In him, there is no lie.
I realize some of my descriptive words of Christ can sound like “Christianese,” but let me confess that it flows and bears witness even to me of evidence to the intimate level He has drawn me to, and I have yielded to receive. It is the result of walking with my Savior through the valley of the shadow of death. It is a “green pasture and still waters” beyond the suffering that has led to resurrection and new life on earth as it is in heaven. One cannot have such an encounter and relationship and not be transformed on every level.
Friend, God loves you. He knows what others and we do not know about ourselves, and He loves us perfectly. He does not expect or desire your perfection – godliness, or perfection is His role and being. The more of Him we engage with, the more of Him that will flow through us.
2 Peter 1:3 states it so powerfully. I encourage you to spend time really taking this in, “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness…” I urge you to take time to look over 2 Peter 1:2-8 and meditate on the phrase found in verses 5-7, “in your.” Beloved, His divine power is already yours for access in the Name of Jesus Christ. Under the blood of the lamb and by the word of your testimony confessing him as Lord, freedom, healing, growth, and transformation are all your, period.
Beloved one, do not delay in surrendering all pain that seeks destruction. God is able to do more than we ask or imagine to transform by healing so that healed pain becomes productive for His Namesake and your part in Kingdom work, silencing the enemy with the power of your scars and testimony.
Pray
Father, all that you know about my pain is in need of transformation. Help me with the courage to bring it and leave it in Your hands. Strengthen me with resolve to receive and learn to tap into this divine power you have already granted through the true knowledge of you who has called me by your glory and excellence in Christ Jesus. Amen.
